They never were as good live as their recordings though. Their touring sound man was a metal dude who was used to touring with that genre. It was so disappointing…twice I saw them..ugh. But the recordings are standout production.
Song 2’ wasn’t a hit in continental Europe either ME, but it’s by far their best-known song over here. It was huge on rock and alternative stations, and it was guaranteed to make any dancefloor explode. One of the best they ever did. ‘M.O.R.’ was completely unknown to me.
Yeah, it's interesting that Blur wasn't big in the U.S. since they fit right in with the alternative rock of the 90s. Of course, the Billboard charts weren't really reflecting the popularity of tracks that were never released as actual singles. I guess you'd have to look at the alternative charts. I knew "Girls & Boys" and "Song 2" but not the other ones. My favorite Blur song though is "Tender" from 1999. It doesn't really sound like any of their other songs that I'm aware of but it is, well, tender!
Just putting a good word in for "Parklife" and "There's No Other Way." Both are fantastic.
Yes!

They have some great albums!
WooHoo!
I see what you did there! 😆

I'd weirdly never heard "M.O.R." either but did know "Song 2" and "Beetlebum".

Funny you should mention "Tender". Just picked that album up used yesterday (crazy timing!) and might write something on it eventually.
I don't know the rest of the album but I'll be interested to hear what you think.
I heard it once years ago and debated buying it but didn't. Will be interesting to have a second listen.
They had such a dynamic career. Love Graham’s guitar. Underrated.
Agreed! I have one of Graham's solo albums and need to write something on it eventually.
