I never really listened to the entire album, looking forward to checking it out. But the double single “Computer Love / The Model” holds a special place in my heart as it was one of the first two singles I bought with my own money (the other was (The Specials’ “Ghost Town”)
Thank you hip-hop. Kraftwerk was a great part of my childhood, along with Gary Numan and Yellow Magic Orchestra. These groups resonated and opened up possibilities which were very important to the development of music and the possibilities for the future.
As much as I love the heavily synthesized sounds of the 1980s I'm not really familiar with much Kraftwerk. The group just didn't have the radio or video presence in the U.S. that others did during that time period. I remember hearing "The Model" because it appeared on a compilation CD I have called "It's Electric." I never took a deep dive into their other work though. Glad you posted this to remind me that I still can!

Both of those are fantastic records!

Yellow Magic Orchestra a good one too!
For me, Kraftwerk are always cooler in the original German - lyrics that sound twee and simplistic in English work so much better in Deutsch!
I feel like "Pocket Calculator" would work best in German. 👍
And in Japanese 😁
Tachenrechner - it does!

The only album I'm really familiar with (right now) is Computer World but I feel like it's a great starting point!
Been playing it lots this summer.
Computerworld is a great album. But I'm also a big fan of the Tour de France album and their live double album "Minimum-Maximum"
I need to check that out!
